Gravatar NYC,

In my county(Palm Beach), the schools have problems paying employees because of the idiotic payroll program they started using. As the Palm Beach Post declared, Peoplesoft can do it all. Pay employees what is owed, overpay them and underpay them.

The situation got so bad, the district nearly lost half its bus drivers.

Cheers,

Bill

Gravatar The people who ran this "pool" sound like the same people who ran Worldwide and Enron.

It's funny how teachers' pensions are always used to bail out poor planning.
We got our February break because we agreed to use our pension to bail out the city.

Since 911. the TRS is not the same. I am still awaiting my service history report which now takes about a year. Years ago I could just walk into their old office and get it the same day. They are so behind in everything. Yet Randi wants to use TRS money to start a village rather than upgrade the system. Right now real estate is not the place place to invest. And I am not even sure this is a good plan. I don't think unions or pensions should be housing agents too. When are we going to see our GHI schedules improve to 2000 rates (let alone 200?

Not to long ago, New Jersey also wanted to raid the teachers' pension fund.

Gravatar That's a great point about using our pension fund to get into the landlord business, Schoolgal. When I heard that plan about "Weingarten Village," I nearly hit the roof. Randi claims it will help keep teachers from leaving the system by providing affordable housing, but you have to make less than $45,000 to qualify if you're single and less than $70,000 to qualify if you're part of a family of 4. That kinda disqualifies all teachers (though I suppose it might help paras.)
