Although everybody knows it, it needs to be said over and over and over again.
Mayor Bloomberg could not have achieved his vision of destroying the school system without the implicit support and approval of Randi Weingarten.
Aside from a few negative, but carefully worded comments, she has done nothing (indeed the UFT has done nothing although you wouldn't know it from the UFT newspaper because the newspaper never recognizes the real problems...) to improve the lot of students or teachers in NYC.

Some people do realize playgrounds are important. Check out Out2Play: www.out2play.org, whose mission is to provide every NYC elementary school without a playground with a playground renovation.
Last year they built 14 playgrounds in the Bronx, this year they are building 25 across the five boroughs.
