Bloomberg might as well cry uncle and accept that 25% of the money will come from the city, since under Giuliani the schools were shortchanged by his shortsighted policy.

Custodial staff being cut by almost 10 percent? Our custodian was specifically told that his budget was cut to help pay for the empowerment schools program. I thought Klein proclaimed that this money came from excessing middle mangement? Our custodian had to let go a new worker he hired over the summer and set up a schedule where classrooms gets swept every other day. I guess everyone needs to do more with less.
Empowerment is another bunch of nonsense designed to keep people from seeing what isn't happening in NYC. What opn earth has this mayor done? I can't think of a single thing. I'm definitely voting for Spitzer.
I still don't get this. The suit alleges that the STATE is shortchanging the CITY, therefore... the city should pay? Huh? Plus, you continue to ignore the fact that Bloomberg has increased the city's education spending by billions of dollars since he became mayor, increases that have far outpaced those of the state. And he's not just "claiming" to want better facilities - he's spending billions of dollars on the largest school capital plan in the city's history. The city is doing it's part. Now the state has to live up to its obligations.
Clearly you don't get it. You haven't grasped that Giuliani kept aid where it was was when he started, or that Bloomberg hasn't fixed that inequity. You've also neglected inflation, which is rampant in these parts.
You seem also to be utterly unfamiliar with conditions in city schools, which have worsened under Bloomberg. Clearly you haven't set foot in mine, which resembles a sardine can more every day. You'll pardon me if my eyes serve me better than Mayor Mike's words.
Perhaps you should take up your argument with the Supreme Court, which has the peculiar notion that NYC kids need good teachers, smaller classes and decent facilities, none of which this mayor has seen fit to ensure they have.
Or perhaps you ought to rely on something other than the selective happy talk from the city. Fortunately, I've provided just that this morning.
