GREAT VID!!!But the six string player showed a tiny bit of emotion and body movement. No way Bill allows that in the old days. The six string in the Blue Grass Boys was always stolid and stoic.
BTW did you ever hear Jerry Garcia's quote that he hadn't heard music till he heard Bill Monroe?
I'm glad you enjoyed it, XK, and your appreciation for this music makes me respect you all that much more. This was actually Bill sitting in with fiddler Byron Berline's band, so they weren't technically Blue Grass Boys. That may account for the guitar player's impertinence. Byron did play with Bill, though, and recorded that tune with him. The original recording has this incredible hypnotic rhythm that I've never heard reproduced.
Garcia also said he always wanted to be a Blue Grass Boy.
