To me, the more interesting question as this mathemagic reveals itself is why the most dogged reporting about it consistently comes from any source but the Times. The New York Sun has lost credibility after defending certain other policies--"Islamofascism," anyone?--which narrows its audience.

Gravatar Interesting that Mayor Moneybags has not seen fit to "insult" us with a 20% raise. Of course, everyone knows that City Hall deserves credit for all improvements while problems are strictly the fault of working people.

Nice to see Joe Friday, though, even on a Thursday.

Gravatar Wow we must be really awesome teachers if all these great gains were made by use without really giving it our all. I can't wait to see what I can do when I finally really try so I can get an extra grand or two bonus! Thank you Mayor $bags, I would never know my real potential without you. Wait?, What? My school doesn't qualify? F it then I'm goin home.

Unitymustgo!

Gravatar Love it, Unitymustgo.

Let's all follow the corporate model for "success":

We'll stack our little merit-pay committees not with the people we think will play fair, but with the ones we KNOW don't have any problem fiddling with the data to up the results. We're fast learners, we can do this.

Then we have to tell the press how right they were all along when they touted the brilliance of the new merit pay plan. We were wrong to knock it: there's more "success" than ever.

Unfortunately, anyone who buys into this stuff is corrupt through and through and shouldn't have any say in the education of children.
