This and all charter schools are bad ideas...
Why have a charter school about the Hebrew language? If someone is that interested, can't they just move to Israel (that doesn't mean that Hebrew shouldn't be offered as a foreign language in public schools, of course).
However, Israel is a secular state and if you go to Tel Aviv or its suburbs, for example, you will find that Israeli culture is devoid of religion.

It is ridiculous to think that you can't teach a LANGUAGE without teaching a religion which uses that language.
Can we teach English without using the Bible? Can we teach Greek without mythological texts?
Yes, you can teach the Hebrew language without teaching Judaism. And you can teach Arabic without teaching Islam. I can't even imagine why someone would think otherwise.

Or should we just forget the whole thing and leave public schools teaching American culture?
Uh, oh, NYCE, you really stepped in it this time. Just what, exactly, is "American culture"? (And what is "proper English" for that matter?) Go to any ed school and discuss. Then run from the room screaming to regain your sanity.

The question is not about teaching a Language, though most language courses do provide a cultural context in their presentation, particularly in reading comp. The questionarises when we discuss the mandate of the Gibran School to teach Arab Culture.
This is a more nuanced question, especially when investigating a culture that is not only Islamic, but the birthplace if Islam.
There is a rapidity on the part of defenders of the Gibran School to brand those of us who question it as racists and bigots. Perhaps there is a feeling that once branded, we will withdraw from the discussion, lest we be ranked with the Bull Connors of History. I do not intend to relax my disapproval of the mandates of Gibral School unless it can be explained to me why I am not permitted the same latitudes in investigating the culture of poland or Russia or Medieval Europe with the full understanding, not the anti religious mantras, of the role Christianity played in the development of these cultures and a full undersatnding of Christianity.

xb us correct when he states that one particular person is always playing the race card and in fact has alluded to anti-Semitic remarks.

I can see the difficulty. Along with foreign languages, the culture of that language's people is usually taught. In the case of Hebrew, the Jewish culture is much more intertwined with, rooted in, and defined by religion. So it would be hard not to be seen as proselytizing.
But it seems to me purging every single references to blessing or faith isn't teaching anyone very useful Hebrew.

Another clue Lowe's is the good one::::Katrina cottage plans.
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?a...ans&
N=0+5002245
In this era of preditory developers building massive new homes (ie SUVs) it is quite refreshing to see Lowe's promote modest single family structures.
Looking in Denver these are the kinds of homes I am looking at. To move into a brand new structure would be key, especially in Denver:::::Full insulation, no dreaded leakage leading to high heating bills. No ghosts and no history.
As with all things::::Redwhite&blue IS BAD FOR YOU!!!! Much like some Walmarts, some Lowe's stores are redwhite&blue color scheme:::Assume its a clue that these towns are disfavored and it would be wise to GET THE FUCK OUT!!!
Bet that Oldsmobile was the only good American auto manufacturer left and now they're gone.
The 80s era of M&A and integration with/controlling interest by evil entities has eliminated good from the marketplace.
In this era of Manifest Destiny positioning the gods have the preditory disfavored steal from the good disfavored::::
1. Microsoft stole Windows from Apple Computer/SteveJobs/Wozniac
2. Alexander Graham Bell stole the telephone from Elisha Grey
3. Waffle House's business model was stolen by many entities who copied the style and stole market share. HOLDING BACK THE COFFEE IS A TACTIC THE GODS USE TO SEND THE DISFAVORED ELSEWHERE and a clue they are good::::Coffee is bad for you.
4.
5.
…
499.
500.
When it comes to Walmart they really didn't expereince a M&A phase that I'm aware of, so expect the redwhite&blue clue to only be in effect in the South:::All Walmarts in California are evil. Howevery, they said Costco/PriceClub merger paved the way for the presence of Sam'sClub on the WestCoast, and they share that Sam'sClub is good, but again that might only be here in the west where they compete with evil Costco.
I'd like to remind people Sam'sClub's presence is in the InlandEmpire while Costco does business in WestLA.
As far as NorthernCalifornia goes Concord is the only BayArea Sam'sClub location, and for a reason:::SanFranciscoBayArea is The Beast, geographic clue sent as Manifest Destiny sculpted the shoreline.
Sam'sClub is more expensive than Walmart for a reason.
None of this is important. In the end they are ALL BrainLessCloneHosts and they will all be used in the same way:::To prey on the disfavored.
The M&A/evil acquisition of controlling interest allows the gods to justify the elimination of this so-called "help", none of which ever existed. Any perception otherwise was deceptive, used as corruptors, much like the Presidents of the United States streets example.
The Italian boot and Scandanavian penis pissing on Europe as the Vikings did both prove the positioning that is Manifest Destiny is all a scam.
My advice is understand the Amish clue and live simply and strive for purity.

in response to xkaydet65, why can't you contextualize the history/culture of poland and/or russia with discussions of christianity? as long as you present a variety of perspectives on the issue, you're well within your rights. the separation of church and state just means that we as teachers can't proselytize or impose our personal beliefs on kids. teaching about and using religion to clarify context is important and should be done. the gibran school is focused on multiple perspectives. the school's founders just want to foreground the importance of studying the history and culture of the arabic world along with the importance of studying everywhere else. it's a gap in our national study. we ignore it in most social studies curricula, and that's not doing our students any favors in terms of really becoming global citizens, period.
