Because this school is practically in my backyard, I find this story embarrassing. Charter schools properly run can be assets to a community. Charter schools like Academia Advance are detriments. For shame!
What I found most troubling about the story is how there seems to be little charter school operators in California can do short of murder to actually lose their charters.

Sort of like what's happening in the nursing home industry. A recent article in the Times' pointed to numerous violations in privately financed HMO's
in Florida. They escape from being monitored that way.
The things that LA Times reported are not 1% of the abuse, constitutional violations, retain students, expossure to asbestos to school comunity and the cover up going on by some Board Members of LAUSD, Latino politicians and the Mayor. They want to used our comunity for political support doesn't matter the price. We are been sold to the Highest bid. And of curse they had try to intimidate parents with phone calls, personal treats and not even the letters to the Governor works, because you know who is next to him: a bunch of latino democrats crocks that are sending California' Education to the dogs. We are fighting with our teeth but they are above the LAW.
Academia Avance Charter School was under Investigations of corruption, fraud, forge students signatures, expossure of students to asbestos with knowledge of owners, lack of books, abuse of students, and Constitutional violations are been Reported on two public documents that at least will take the mask of this school and no other students will be victims in our Comunity if LAUSD does not renew the Charter.If they do it is on their concience and our youth will have no hope to a better future.
