Gravatar I was just at Office Depot. They carry "tip charts" at the register, so you don't have to strain your brain figuring out what a 15% tip would be.

Sad. Very sad.

Gravatar 1/3 + 1/4 = 4/12 + 3/12 = 7/12

Gravatar You mean it's not 1/7?

Gravatar Wait a minute--NOW I get it. That's math humor, isn't it?

Gravatar Math humor:

Teacher: Can anyone tell me what we mean by "Pi r squared?"

Student: No way. Pie are round. Cornbread are squared.

Happy New Year MMVII, yo.

Gravatar Since Randi is clearly mathematically challenged, can we really be sure that 90% voted FOR the contract? Did Randi forget a decimal? Did she neglect to carry the one?

The world may never know.

Have a happy and a healthy NYC Educator!

Gravatar This is Randi's Dan Quayle potato moment when he added an e to the word. Can the Unity people explain this one away like they do everything else?

Gravatar Maybe she should come and sit in my math class... I can help her. I think she needs a little assistance!

Gravatar RW Prof,

In my 6th grade math classes, despite painstaking discussions and practice with common denominators (preceded by lessons in multiples and finding the least common multiple), a goodly number of students will just say 2/7. To be sure, there are many who get it, but when I tell them that they cannot just add across the numerators and denominators, you would think that they would at least eliminate that answer in a multiple choice question and guess something else.

Gravatar Is it seven twelths?

Gravatar What really irks me is when pizza are squared. Hard to divvy up amongst three people that way.

Gravatar Office Depot accepts tips?
