I was just at Office Depot. They carry "tip charts" at the register, so you don't have to strain your brain figuring out what a 15% tip would be.

In my 6th grade math classes, despite painstaking discussions and practice with common denominators (preceded by lessons in multiples and finding the least common multiple), a goodly number of students will just say 2/7. To be sure, there are many who get it, but when I tell them that they cannot just add across the numerators and denominators, you would think that they would at least eliminate that answer in a multiple choice question and guess something else.
Is it seven twelths?
What really irks me is when pizza are squared. Hard to divvy up amongst three people that way.
