All across the city, there are two things going on...1) Kids are still rampantly cutting classes and school, but...2)Kids are being marked present for the whole day by way of the magical "white, school day" bubble sheets. Attendance is up! Graduation rates are up! Honesty, truth, and integrity are down.

Interesting. Instead of backing higher standards, the student gets switched. Well, it worked at well for you at least.
My pet peeve has always been teachers who mark students above their actual grade levels. They do it for the "parents". So, I wind up looking like the bad guy until I have the child perform in front of the parent.

And all these kids usually end up in my class. Thanks!
I do the same things and they keep coming back for more. I need lessons from you.

I'm not trying to get rid of these kids, actually.

That was funny! Any suggestions on how to get rid of a psycho principal?

You should write the definitive book on class-size reduction. So many teachers need to know how to keep their rolls trimmed!

Ha Ha, that cracked me up. I have a student who does nothing, and my principal told me to let him as long as he doesn't cause any trouble. What's wrong with this picture? But on the other hand, I have several students threatening to drop my class at semester. With their bad attitudes, I honestly hope they do!

I agree about the class sizes. I think that it is a better learning environment for the kids if they can have more one on one time. And about the persons last comment; everything is wrong with that picture!!! Principals should want to help the students achieve, not just let them pass by. They are neglecting their responsibilities as an educator.

Hahaha, brazen and balsy, NYCE -- nicely done! And it will be misinterpreted as a serious claim by many which is always the true sign of genius!
At the beginning of this year, I had 12 kids in my homeroom and 10 in my afternoon class. Oh the things we accomplished and the individual attention I could give to each kid!!! Then they moved some teachers around, and now I have 21 and 20. And when a teacher is absent, we split up their class, so last week I had 25 a couple of times (in a room roughly the size of a coat closet).
I'm thinking I need to plant some Tylenol or steak knives in some of these kids' backpacks and get my class size reduced as well!!
