I think you're making a BIG mistake by opposing intergalactic recruitment.

Well, if they're recruiting us to other galaxies, I'm willing to discuss it. But mostly they just lure extraterrestials to NYC. Most of them run back screaming when they see the cost of living anyway.

I called it. But Vegas wasn't taking bets on a sure thing, so I still lost money on the deal.
But I also called the end of seniority rights and a high % going to GHI so that makes me 3-0
Spinner- I don't think any of us really thought the contract WOULDN'T be ratified- and by an overwhelming majoritiy at that. Doesn't mean I won't be one of the first to say, "I told you so" when we start contributing to our healthcare costs, and ATR's are forced out of the system.
First, Jeffrey, James and Norman do not write for this blog, which reflects only my point of view.
Also, this is the first I've heard of it. Perhaps you should complain to the New York Times, since they also failed to carry the story.
However, I do have a comment. Congratulations on institutionalizing work in August, the end of seniority transfers, permanent hall/ potty/ lunch patrol, a sixth class for high school teachers, and merit pay. And congratulations on demoralizing a sufficient number of teachers to vote for the last contract.
You should be proud. That was quite an achievement.
After that, this one was nothing. In fact, I predicted it on this blog as recently as last week.
And I regret to cast aspersions on your mind-reading abilities, but I will have much to say about this in the future.

You mean that there are actually over 7000-8000 people in the UFT who were willing to give up a less than cost of living increase to stand up for their rights? I am shocked. ICE, TJC and others opposed to the contract have been branded as a bunch of crazies. How gratifying to be joined by so many other demented people. Randi has got to be crying over not getting 100% of the vote and will get even a smaller percentage in the UFT elections even with New Action endorsing her (or maybe because of it).She wanted to top the votes Saddam Hussein was getting in Iraq. Boo, hoo and a merry xmas to you.
I lost $20 on the contract ratificaiton spread. We voted it down in Murry Bergtraum High School. Perhaps, if the membership had the time and the benefit of a dissenting column in NY Teacher (Unity's Pravda) it would have been closer?
