I agree with Diane Ravitch 100% about the Kleinberg decision-making process.
Integrity? Only if you live on the upper East side and have $$$$$ in your savings account, because this mayor does nothing for the middle class.
I'd like to see where this integrity is actually residing in this mayor's administration. I see evidence of an extreme lack of integrity in all of their actions and pronouncements. This DOE is no more than an educational and testing contract mill, and an attempt to rid the city of more experienced teachers, especially unionized senior teachers. Schoolgal, you are so correct. Not only do they do nothing for the middle class, they treat us with contempt and derision. They have so many cockmamie ideas like the "high school application process" where they try to route a middle class kid to a lower performing school instead of a desirable "better" high school. People pay hugely inflated housing prices in, say, northeast Queens, and their kids get slapped in the face with disgustingly overcrowded neighborhood high schools and all we hear is "no child left behind". Middle class children are being left behind; some of their parents are looking to areas outside the city to live, such as northeast New Jersey or the Philadelphia suburbs, all of which have more affordable housing prices and have better schools with 1/3 less kids in a class. They ignore the needs of the middle class kids and address either the very rich or needier economic groups. Klein and Bloomberg lack any kind of vision for this city's future altogether, and are driving out the middle class.
