WoW!!! This has to be the best post ever!!! You left out 2 important points: The first being the reason that so many 2nd graders are being heldover is because Randi doesn't want them to negatively influence her school's 3rd grade test scores, and in turn, her reputation. Very cleaver!! The second is that Randi (who didn't even show) most likely they put a Unity Hack in charge of the school who, like many of the "instables" coming out of Leadership and many of these crash course administration programs, have no public relations experience. Even a low-level teacher knows not to blow off a parent--but a good principal!!!! Never!!! These parents were savvy enough to threaten to contact the media in order to get a simple meeting with their principal.
They knew just how to pull Randi's strings.
I would love to hear from the teachers who left.

When I go to my daughter's school, the principal greets me by name. When my daughter got hit with something thrown into her schoolbus from the street (She suffered a few minor cuts), the principal came to visit her in the emergency room. I'm absolutely certain if I wanted to see her principal for any reason whatsoever I'd get in immediately. And I'm very sure that if I had problems the magnitude of that which troubled these parents, I'd get in even sooner.

Randi should run the school just like she runs the union. Just hand out money, and let the kids know they have to say nice things about her all the time or there will be no more.

Tired Teacher is right. She can offer them all 2nd pensions if they pass the statewide tests.
