Gravatar The Pentagon's always trying to finagle a way out of compensating seriously wounded war vets too.

Let's face it, soldiers and first responders are fine as long as they're available for photo ops and vote the RIGHT way, but don't put up too much of a fuss.

Gravatar So right! I have a close friend who was almost killed in 'Nam. Got hepatitis,3 types of cancer, courtesy of Agent Orange. Massive cuts in benefits to veterans, thanks to the incumbents in D.C. This guy's stomach biopsy, sectioned at a Vets hospital in Brooklyn, fell off a truck and was literally lost en route to the Manhattan hospital where services that were cut in Bklyn were still available. BTW: it turned out he did indeed have a malignancy. Since then, he busted his hip, and though he was told that his bone is dying, and he'll be in a wheelchair if he doesn't get surgery, he's opted to take his chances rather than to submit to an operation at a veterans hospital, where they are short of iodine and gauze, I suppose. What a ridiculous stretch, albeit believed by so many: that the "mom and apple pie" folks are more patriotic, even as they sever the lifelines of support for thise to whom they give lip service.

Gravatar Thanks for posting this. And for once I agree with Jellyfish
