ICEers and GEMers joined Leonie and others from the Parent Commission protesting at the Bloomberg/Weingarten/Patterson and other politicians' press conf at PS 57 in Harlem yesterday. I put up a preliminary report at ed notes.

We all booed Klein mightily and I got some video of Weingarten skulking away. ICE/TJC Pres candidate was there and was interviewed by reporters. Where was his opponent Mulgrew?
All of this reminds me of the UFT chapter leader training three years ago when I spoke out against mayoral control. Randi called on me to speak during Q & A and I said that Klein was just the symptom, that the real problem was the consolidation of power in the executive. That we must reject reauthorization of mayoral control. Spontaneous applause bubbled up, then hacks saw Randi wasn't smiling or nodding her head... applause then dissipated shortly. Randi responded that she was "on the record against mayoral control". Did she drink the kool aid? Did she make a deal on the next contract already? I presume it's the latter.
Let's pray the State senate keeps on fighting and by Wednesday Bloomie and Klein will lose control. But I am sure the terrible 3 are working the phones to get this through as we speak--unless the senate knows how much the public is against this and maybe, just maybe is using this clown act to defeat Bloomie at this own game.
