Gravatar You just have to follow the New Math you outlined in your last post:
Patient pays for new guideline proceedure/equipment/medicine = money ends up in AMA's crony pockets = more AMA guidelines = more crony profits = more AMA guidelines = more crony profits (it's kind of a Krebs cycle here) = and finally higher insurance premiums for patient.
Wait...that didn't work out right.

Gravatar Thank you for writing about this. The presumption of the AMA is truly outrageous. Just like NOW assuming the right to speak for all women. Check out the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons - www.aapsonline.org - the anti-AMA. This may be our best bet for a publically recognizable voice saying that not all doctors agree with the AMA.

Gravatar I've never joined the AMA. There are too many things they are involved with that make no sense to me.

This whole quality of care/pay for performance concept is yet another stick to beat us with, and the AMA is just helping to craft the stick.

Gravatar Perfectly excellent rant. Linked!

Gravatar I wish i could have said this as eloquently as you did - wonderful rant!!
