I wanted to thank you. Your post inspired me to call up a friend from med school whom I see once every five years even though he's only an hour away. I know what you mean. Each time we talk, it brings back great memories.
So true. When I was a kid (around 11) I decided to become a pediatric neurosurgeon, and when I was 17 I had an informal internship with a pediatric neurosurgeon. There was a level of camaraderie that I have yet to see in another industry.
