I'm not a fan of the toe sock - but then I can't bear shoes with the divider by the big toe so they wouldn't be much use to me.

My nieces on the other hand would love them! (My youngest niece wants socks with 5 individual toes.)(She's not getting them!)

8 days??? You knit a PAIR of socks in 8 day? It takes me that long (if I'm lucky) to knit one sock.

That's an interesting idea -- tabi socks. I'm not sure how I'd do with them. I may have to knit some to find out. Yours are definitely pretty.
