Indeed, good observations Mark. I read a Stephen Hunter review in the Wash Post that ripped it to shreads, for asthetic and practical reasons. Funny, the Wash Times reviewer (name escapes me, darnit) was more positive about the film as an adventure movie if you simply ignored the political, anti-Bush aspects. Tough sell.

And I had respected the Wichowski bros for their effort with the Matrix Trilogy. I believe the author of the comic novel on which the movie was based has disavowed either his novel, or the movie, or both. (Hunter's review says something on this).

Don't worry about the film. I'll probably watch it but if Alan Moore has disowned it i can't see how it could be good.

The original graphic novel is one of the best ever made. Why anyone would try and make anything but a faithful screen adaption of it i just cannot fathom.

Its like the stupid screenwrite by commitee love story crap that held up Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy until Douglas Adams was in his grave.

I kind of liked Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy. But then I never read the book so didnt have expectations. I think Alan Moore said something about how it was turned into a liberal fantasy about neocons, which was not what his graphic novel was about, and that's why he quit.
