Look, voting for Harper is one thing, Anderson. But now you've crossed the line.

Wow. I really really liked Music@Work, almost start-to-finish. So I'm as undiscerning a Hip fan as you could ask for.
But this?
This is a fucking Barenaked Ladies song, as performed by Downie et al.

I thought Music@Work was very uneven and unfocused, but it had its moments.
Spies for the Wonderdog Institute of Musical Intelligence Gathering report that live versions of this song don't feature the wretched keyboards.

It was all downhill from the moment Downie started playing the acoustic on stage. They've become Canada's REM. Loved on the first 3-4 albums, tolerated for the next three, pitied on the last few.

Actually, scratch that. REM have sucked for way longer than that.

Well, someone from REM said long ago "we got to the point where we could write an 'REM song' in our sleep." So they changed things up.
That was good. I mean, you have to grow and move on.
Unfortunately, they grew and moved in lousy directions....

I hate to tell you this mister dog??? but I thing you've spent to much time sniffing you ass and not listening to the new album. I personally don't give a rats ass what songs a released first cause I BUY the album and not let knobs like yourself tell me how good or bad the album is.
The Hip is the greatest Canadian rock band of all time and with this new album they show why.

Idiot:
This is not a review of the album. It is a comment on the first single, made long before the album was released.
I was relieved to find that the Hip haven't chosen to make a whole album of songs like "In View." But, having listened to the album, I find it uncompelling. Part of the problem is a bad case of overproduction, thanks to Bob Rock, who destroyed the title track.
Unlike their previous three albums, which veered from excellent to execrable and back again, the new album is solid from start to finish. Unfortunately, it's solidly mediocre.
