Oh skippy, My work laptop sufferes from the same degraded performance in the corp edition. Kpersky is supposed to be good, though Russian.
I'm on AVG as of today. Lo and behold, performance back to normal.
Switch to Linux. Anti-virus techniques are built into its operating system. A Linux computer works for *you*, not for Bill Gates.
Anti-virus programs are written by the same people who write viruses and are intrinsically untrustworthy. How much did Sony pay the anti-virus companies to pretend they couldn't see that those audio CD's were infectious? What exactly is it you're buying if the seller admits to corruption and then makes no attempt to change it ways?
AVG Free works for me too. Still, Windows is becoming increasingly sclerotic for other unknown reasons.
Time for yet another clean install. Why did I ever switch from a Mac?

Think about it. IBM, which proved that throwing additional developers at a project that's behind schedule actually slows it down more. Microsoft. Norton (Peter Norton would be spinning in his grave if he was dead, and yes I know the company's name is actually Symantec). Intuit. Now Macafee.
