Picture of a Duck

Gravatar I was wondering where you were...glad you're back. Hope you can cure the insomnia.

On the entry, we had a similar experience with Maya. She does Girl Scouts each year now and last year they had a cake baking contest with categories like "Funniest", "Ugliest", "Most Girl Scout-like" and so on. They gave out ribbons and there were winners and losers. Maya got a 4th place in her category and vowed to do better this year. I spent upwards of $30 getting equipment and decorations for our, I mean, her cake and we produced a doozy! Then we find out on the night of the judging that everyone was getting a certificate for participation. The other loser moms from last year had done the same thing we had and we were all grumbling. And, of course, the kids noticed the hoodwinking as well...no fooling them!

Sorry to write an entry on your blog! Can't wait to see you!

Lizzie

Gravatar Lizzie,

Insomnia in temporary abatement, thank you. How can you teach kids to strive for success and improvement if there's no incentive or reward for doing so? Go Maya, anyway.

We're looking forward to our visit and I will brush up on my mowing skills
