Hér er töluð enska og íslenska!

Gravatar I'm reading what you have to say about Iceland's economy because Kaupthing has a branch in Norway, and is offering the best interest rate on savings of all the banks here. So when I first heard of it a month ago, I thought about opening an account. And that's about when all these reports about Iceland's economy started.

I wonder if someone wants to make Iceland a scapegoat of some kind. The pound is plummeting because the UK, too, is experiencing a housing bust.

Gravatar Your post is very interesting to me as I've been reading in our press recently all about your 'crisis' without really understanding it.
It's good to hear your point of view, don't really know what I'm talking about but you may know what I mean!

Gravatar Keera,
The scapegoat thing has occurred to me, too. Or perhaps that people are using it as an excuse to avoid their own problems: 'Oh things aren't so bad here, just look at Iceland!'

mary,
If this post has helped correct some sort of misconception, then I'm pleased.

Gravatar I admit that I haven't been following economic news too closely, but this is quite appalling and, I agree, doesn't seem like it should be legal.

I know it's a UK fund, but Cheney Capital? I wonder if there's a connection between that fund and a certain vice president.

Gravatar Our local newspaper has an article today about Iceland's current financial problems, speculating about if this is what will make Iceland join the EU. And if Iceland finally does, Norway may have to, too.

Gravatar The whole way economics works, on rumours and such, is so dodgy i don't even understand how the world can run on such principles. It all seems to be a bit dishonest.
