It looks totally fine to me.
Hopefully, it's just a temporary glitch.

... I had no access 1400-1600 GMT, then got the page you described around 1800 GMT, and now it is back to normal. I tried using the Blogger Beta formats and couldn't get them to do what I wanted, I went back to the old template (modified of course) and am happy with that. (That means I'm just lazy!)

The Iceland Weather Report is visible in my corner of the world, but I was having some trouble finding you earlier today. I think making a switch like that requires time for all of the nameservers around the world to catch up with the changes. So much for working in 'real time' eh?

Bizarrely, I still can't see the Weather Report. Argh!
Professor,
I had no problems switching to Blogger Beta - this is something else entirely. However, I know of some people who had the same experience as you.
lingua,
I guess my particular nameserver must be especially slow, then. Strangely, I see that others in Iceland are able to log on, just not me.

Looks fine from New Hampshire. Maybe the DNS servers on your local machine? Can you see the Weather Report if you just use the IP? http://209.197.81.162/

Are you there??

All systems are go here on the wet coast. Any luck yet?
I have a hard enough time operating a website, blog and Etsy shop so you're way ahead of me. However, now you have me curious about your cryptic Separate Website. Care to direct me/us? You also have me curious about Kinja. I've never seen it before now. Is it better than Bloglines?

Hi Alda,
There are lots of IP/name lookup sites on the net. For example,
http://www.hcidata.co.uk/host2ip.htm. You can find lots more, just google on "IP lookup" etc. So once you know the IP address you can always get there without relying on nameservers.
For your DNS servers, on a Windows machine, go into Control Panel,Networking, find the TCP/IP settings for your network card. Setting the DNS servers should be one of the options.

Thank you! However - in control panel I can only find 'Network connections' and that doesn't appear to have anything related to TCP/IP. I also have a Mac, and I don't see anything there, either, that would allow me to set DNS servers.
Could it be under anything other than Networking?

Okay, I've found something I think might be right, but there's nothing that says 'set DNS server'.
Can you walk me through this? I really do need idiot-proof instructions on this one ...

If you open "Network Connections" you should see your available connections. Right click on the one you are using, then properties. You should then see something that lists "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP). Select that, then hit "properties".
A window opens up, the bottom part of the window will allow you to set in DNS addresses. Your ISP will tell you which DNS servers to use.
From a DOS prompt you could type: nslookup and it should tell you which DNS server you are currently using.
If you are using a router, the DNS settings are probably in your router. Bring up the config page to check. My router stores my DNS settings, but they are auto detected when I connect to my ISP. I didn't have to put them in.
I'm not an expert on this stuff, I just know bits and pieces, but I'm happy to help as best I can. If you don't want to clutter up your comments you could email instead,

Joseph,
Thanks for the very comprehensive (and yes - idiot-proof!) instructions. I am using a router and I don't see what you're describing so it's probably best that I call up my ISP tomorrow (it's too late in the evening now). I expect they'll know what to do (I did call up the router config page but I have no idea what I'm looking for there.)
Cat,
Good call. This kind of thing can run you over like a bulldozer.

I hope your ISP gets things sorted out for you today. It still looks like a simple DNS problem, but I could be wrong.
My router auto-detects my ISP's DNS settings (yours should too). http://img260.imageshack.us/

You can override those DNS servers if you want by changing your PC's TCP/IP network settings as I mentioned before. You can put in new DNS servers. http://img254.imageshack.us/img2.../
setdns4qq4.jpg
The DNS servers in the above image are public servers and should work for anyone. I just tested them on my PC this morning and your site comes up fine, including your flickr images.
Hope you get things working soon!

Joseph, I bow down before you!!! I inserted the DNS numbers as you suggested and presto! my site is up and running on my pc.
Seriously, thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to work all this out and send me. It's truly appreciated.
