Yes! Kill the stupid ribbon, or at least make it optional (both new and old interface).

I like Office 2007. It's better-looking than the previous version, the 'live preview' is good, and the file sizes are much smaller than previously. I'll admit, the ribbon is confusing, but perhaps they'll get rid of it, or modify it in future. Or perhaps it's just a case of getting used to it - after all, how long did it take most people to realise that 'cut' and 'paste' were in the 'edit' menu when Word first came out? It just didn't seem intuitive.

@Michael: Sorry...any "interface" that hides a basic function like "Print" is ridiculous. It is NOT intuitive to have to click on a big ball to open a menu, then click on Print which opens yet another menu to actually Print anything. I know you can add it to your "Quick Access" toolbar, but that should have been there in the first place.
As for better looking? Really? When a large portion of your screen's real estate is taken up with a bar of commands, that's better looking? Or are you talking about the colors and nice, new icons?

I don't really get all the fuss between the two to be honest. So you go File -> Print instead of Ball -> Print. La dee freaking da. Not to mention the bar is pretty much fully customizable. But then again, maybe I'm just not afraid of change and took some time to learn it.

Ryan, as a heavy keyboard user, this thing is almost impossible to use.

@Ryan: Who uses File->Print? I click the Print button. As for Ball->Print - if you didn't know that, what would you do? I had to use Help to figure out how to print.
Wonderful that you took the time to learn it. But if you plop this on thousands of users' machines across a large, multinational organization/gov't department, and they start screaming that they can't meet deadlines because they have NO TIME to figure out the new interface, that's an entirely different situation.
People who make blanket statements like "I'm not afraid of change, blah, blah, blah" really have no idea what the real world is like when it comes to rolling out changes of this magnitude. Organizations have invested millions in training their users and all of a sudden they have to spend more money re-training.

@Steve Not quite a blanket statement since I was referring to my personal experience, but hey, glad you liked it.
Oh and I'm one of those users. Just not one that I complains I guess.

The mostly-creative-types that I work for love the 2007 version. They don't mind the "journey" to a new place.
The business-minded folks tho, for the most part, just want to get going and get on to the next task at hand.
A "Classic Mode" checkbox would do wonders for these types of users.

All of my clients who have it hate it.
I have read that it is slightly easier than the older versions for people who have never previously used any version of Office (or Word). Don't know if that's true, but if it is, what % of Office 2007 users are first-timers?
About half of my clients have switched to Open Office.
