Gravatar or that Claria has successfully lobbied Microsoft to change the default action. Or, it's a simple oversight.{Alex}

Oversight ....I think not! You are much too diplomatic at times Alex....however sometimes being cautious with public pronouncements against litigious hardened companies is wise!

Gravatar It was just a matter of time. The marketing department has a lot of sway at Microsoft.

I predict that this will keep demand for third party adware and spyware detection quite high.

Gravatar "Or, it's a simple oversight."

Thanks, I needed a good morning chuckle.

Gravatar Does anyone know how to change these settings in MS AntiSpyware? Spybot also allows some junk by default but at least it's easy to change the settings to detect/eliminate everything.

I can't imagine anyone is surprised by this. Other than MS. They are always surprised to find out no one trusts them. I guess my mistrust of MS is just a "simple oversight." Heh. Good one.

Gravatar If I were you, I'd switch to Linux. Immediately. There's NOTHING you can't do in Linux that you can do now in Windows. You have no excuse... unless you're REALLY that stupid to allow this to happen to you.

Gravatar How involved is the SpyNet community portion of MS AntiSpyware in adding and modifying the database?

Could it also be an attempt by Claria to poison the community database with reports of their software being fine?

Not that MS and Claria aren't working together, but is it also possible that SpyNet is a security/trust hole that can be used by other Spyware firms?

Gravatar If I were you, I'd switch to Linux. Immediately. There's NOTHING you can't do in Linux that you can do now in Windows.

...except play games. And run MS Office well.

Gravatar Weird, i can't install that MS AntiSpy thingie, nor i have Claria apps on my FreeBSD.

Is something wrong?

Gravatar "...except play games. And run MS Office well."

Of course, everyone knows that games are the foundation of communications and Internet, and spending useless money on Ms Office when you can have OpenOffice is a must.

"There are only 2 things infinite:
the universe and MS lovers stupidity. And i'm not sure about the universe."

Gravatar Every OS has it's place:

OS X - Internet Surfing, Content Generation, Digital Media

FreeBSD/Linux/*IX - Servers. Period.

Windows - Games

Everyone knows Windows has it's share of problems, but really - try supporting Linux in a major Hollywood Studio. Between in-house software and batteling with vendors, it's really tiresome.

Gravatar bill gates better pull his microsoft c0ck outta these guys pocket otherwise he's gonna lose himself a lotta customers.... either that or generate a lot of pissed off sheep......

Gravatar Are there any other spy/adware companies that have paid or "worked with" MS to get their program's spyware status changed?

It sucks that an OS company buys out a spyware-removing program (Antispyware). They become biased towards some spyware programs, doing "favors" for some (Gator), modifying what's right or wrong acording to what they think.
