I wouldn't count on the FTC in this case.
Judging by the whois information, this site is operated by the same people as the 'vcodec' CWS group - ie. Russian-language adult webmasters with no regard for the law - a long way from the FTC's reach.
Pretending to be Microsoft is an old CWS favourite; this site's just slightly better made than some of their past attempts.

This all started early December, I have google as a start page with
internet explorer, I was looking for a recipe for Pot Roast. a program
popped on it was NEEDASCAN.COM or something with need something.com? Something about Malware was the headline, there were 3 programs on it, and SpyTrooper was one of them, it just staeted running, with no way to stop it. It completly took over my browser, and my computer started running erratic as
hell, when I clicked on google this phantom program would just popped on
time after time. the program started checking my system? there was no way to stop it, I thought hell I'll just let it run see whast happening? Well it mysteriously found 7 trojans and two worms, just for added measure.
I went into my registery and it changed my start pages, search pages and added a couple worms in my Search Assistant - W32Sinnaka.A@mm - and W32.A@mm. It slipped these trojans and worms right into my computer. There
was no was to delete them unless I purchased one of the programs. I
recognized Spytrooper and purchased it for $32 for 6 months. I feel I was
duped into buying one of those programs, no other way to explain my feelings
I was DUPED. I recognized it thats why I purchased it, I really didn't
want to buy another program but the way thing were going "I had no choice",
I am a Retired Marine, fought for my rights in Vietnam and I HAD NO CHOICE.
Thats piss poor!!
As it is now your program keeps popping up asking me to get the full
version? Whats up with that? I've spent a few hours in my registery trying
to clean it up the mess, and there were changes and additions throughout the
registery. It seemed the more I tried to get rid of them more was added. I
still haven't found them all. THIS IS BAD BUSINESS PRACTICE and I was
pissed, very pissed. Is this how you get people to buy your program?
early yesterday I have and ran the free, yes free programs Spy Bot,
Ad-Adware and my system was clean?
Very unhappy,

Sounds like you got hit with the WMF exploit...
You can get rid of this -- multiple antispware scans, AV scans and a thorough Hijack This run through.
See http://sunbeltblog.blogspot.com/...y-on-
cheap.html for my tips on free tools. You don't have to spend a dime.

I got hit by a varient of this one that uses exactly the same info and bogus threats. It is called Spyware Strike and seems to work with something called Trojan.Zlob. Tried Norton's fix and it did not work. Finally had to system restore that seems to have worked(I hope it did) but I did loose some stuff. More of a pain in the butt than anything else. It was the fraudulent mis-repesentation that killed me. Wasted a weekend to fix it.

My son was surfing the net and got lured into clicking on a pop-up that stated our computer would be under attack by a virus if he didn't. What this did was immediately hijack our homepage to iehomepage.com and no matter what, we can't get rid of it.
Upon doing a bit of research, I now realize we have the ZLOG Trojan virus. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with getting rid of this? The site SpyNoMore claims to get rid of it for $39.00, but I can't find any information on anyone who's actually used it and has had good results. Can someone please advise me on if there is a tested and proven way of removing this virus from my comuputer short of wiping out our hard drive??? THX!

Penny, just use our free trial of CounterSpy, should be fine --www.sunbelt-software.com. You can always use a few other free tools like AdAware. No need to spend money.

Thanks Alex!
I took your advice and downloaded the free trial of
CounterSpy and you know what...it worked! Everything is back to normal and running smoothly again. It is nice to know that there are people like you out here that are genuinely concerned with giving good advice to those of us who don't know the first thing about computer viruses. Thank you for the tip!
