I have the virus.. It is on my PC right now... It locks up everything but task manager... You are screwed the second you get it....

I too came across spySheriff. Note it is different from award wining Spy Sheriff. spySheriff is a malware which opens notepad, mspaint and prono sites. It even takes to some .cc website for ordering.
As i was trying to clean it i came across a site which says XoftSpy can remove it.

My infection by Spysheriff on December 28 was undetected by Spyhunter and not removable by an install of Spybot S&D.
A manual protocol was suggested by http://www.annoyances.org/exec/f...inxp/ 1120713700 that I followed.

I can detect no related files now, but the browser home page is captured (but able to be circumvented for browsing) and also captured is the desktop appearance (actually frozen and unable to change even by using the Customize Desktop option).

Anysuggerstions? I would appreciate before having to re-congfigure/re-install etc.
