Naaah. Five will get you ten they do that to combat malware that hijacks their hijacking (see the redirections they allow themselves above). It is reminiscent of the the NetSky vs. Bagle virus war.

Their interpretation of fixing your DNS and hosts. file is likely to include your deliberate use of tools like IE-SpyAd, which might rob Best Offers of their revenue.

Also, why would clearing your cookies interfere with their usage tracking of your surfing habits? They're clearly using their own software to track your usage, so their popup distractions would be unaffected. They're shading the truth, of course. It's the webvertiser whose statistics are skewed, not the counts made by Best Offers.
