I have tried a slew of paid and opensource secure wipe disk products. I always put them aside and pick up this one. It is very flexible and you can make it either as a bootable cd or floppy. The ONLY shortcoming I have found with it is that while it lists the hdd model/type, it does not report the hdd serial number. This would be a very useful feature for auditing purposes. Instead, to accomplish that, I have to use a freeware dos boot disk with a dos application from TerraByte Unlimited called DiskInfo http://www.terabyteunlimited.com.../

Other than DOD, it uses Gutmann, too. Providing it's implemented right, you can't get any more secure than that (well, you can, but it's probably pointless and would take far too long anyway). |
