Alex,
I guess that is why we still have pop-up blockers in every major portal's toolbar...

Funny that... I don't think anyone who sincerely cares about online privacy has ever trusted TRUSTe.
All their stamp of approval does for me is cause a slight giggle. It's no more trusted than an M$ ActiveX certificate.
We live in a world of marching m....s. Just spend an hour watching shoppers at your local Wal-Mart if you don't believe me.

Mark, for me it's more like a grimace when I see Truste and others like them. Here's a good link about the subject.

An old Sci-Fi short story. Word begins with m, ends with s, is plural, missing 4 letters in middle. I'd type it out, but tben I'd ruin the fun and likely offend just about 98.5% of humanity.

Gibson's Idoru mentions ads in cyberspace of the future briefly. I think it was Idoru. One of the later ones, anyway. This girl goes to Japan and hooks up with a friend from their online fanclub. Her friend's brother is part of a community that essentially consists of a killfile that was turned upside down. At some point they are in a room in this community, and Gibson describes an ad sneaking in and trying to get their attention. It is quickly gobbled up by some anti-ad thing or other.
Gibson is a prophet. There will be ads. We just have to develops ad-predators.
Hehehehheh
