Seriously though, it's not the fact the ads are "targeted" that's the problem. Rather, it's how and when they're beamed at a customer that becomes such a piss-off.
For example, I don't mind Google ads on their own tools. They're marked clearly, non-invasive, and come at a time I might actually want them!
Counterpoint, spawning popups for no reason when I'm working on an essay is the sort of nefarious behavior that drives people to uninstall their shi^H^H^H software in the first place.
At any rate, it's not like I trust anything with the term "trust" in it any more.
