Wow. Judging by your comments alone, it looks like Sony got totally sonned in the settlement. I can't wait to find out if this will go ahead or not.

Why shouldn't Sony, et al. agree to this proposal? It essentially flushes all pending non-governmental suits against them at essentially the cost of replacing any CDs tendered for replacement plus the cost of the attorneys. Everyone involved benefits: Sony, SunnComm, First 4, and the attorneys.
The only real potential downside I see is the "most favored nation" provision where if some state gets a better deal from Sony, the class members will receive such. This could put a damper on settling with them.
This settlement is a joke. A cd replacement shouldn't even be considered...sony *owes* that to thier customers.
Thankfully i'm not a sony customer and wont become one.
Instead of suing them, someone should have filed criminal chgarges against them.

If 1000 people opt out, Sony reserved the right to cancel the settlement.
Sony comes away unscathed.
The settlement amounts to nothing more than free publicity for Sony.
More people will continue to buy their junk.
