No really, I usually don't use foul language but that thing was a little bit too much. Crippling laziness aside (the total lack of even actual signatures), do they expect people to believe that 500 simple file names are a something in the same universe as a definition file? I'm sure 4-year olds can take a 15-minutes break from Pokemons and do better than that.

Still wouldn't work, defs are only one part of the equation -- you need code to remove this stuff -- and it's not easy with some of these spyware variants.

It's interesting to note this app comes from EngageMarketing. You can see the list of their products here:

They are pushing adware along with a suppposed anti-adware app. This weekend I was hit with EngageSidebar -- installed without notice and consent in a large bundle with DollarRevenue, Look2Me and Goologic, which are some of the nastier adware/spyware threats around.

Their website says:

"engageMARKETING is an industry leader and operates on best practices principal, including giving users explicit notice of what they are downloading, obtaining their consent, clearly labeling all advertising and promotional messages and providing an easy way to uninstall our software."
