Gravatar Wow, uhhh... Dude, I don't think any Mac users are actually dumb enough to fall for that one.

Gravatar Yay! Let's download things when we have no idea what they are!

Gravatar I take offense at the "Mac superiority" label. I've used Macs for more than 20 years, never used any protection, download without caution and have never had a virus or trojan. This is not "Mac superiority." It's a FACT. Now, I've never been so stupid in all my "superiority" to claim that someone can't write a Mac virus if they want to. If people download stupid things and are willing to type their password to install them, I suppose an infection is possible. There was a big story on CNN months ago about some "Mac virus." Turns out that it was "theoretical vulnerability," and no case had ever been seen in the wild. I wonder if this is another of those instances. "What if..." What a big surprise that Intego has discovered this trojan and also advertises that they have the "fix" for it. With the big upswing in Mac purchases, I suspect that Intego can sniff a new market for fearful new Mac owners.

Gravatar Well, don't take any great offense. I have a Mac in my household myself, and they're cool machines.

But I'm sorry, this kind of stuff from Apple doesn't help:

http://www.apple.com/support/win...t/windowsvirus/

Apple: "As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it."

I'm sorry, that's a superior, asinine response. And it doesn't help.

Gravatar Well, noting that only 25 iPods are affected (how many 10s of millions have they sold?), and considering that the story about infected iPod news (2006) made headline news, one has to wonder about the "newsworthiness" of such items and the motive and source of the stories. What, 1 in 1,000,000 iPods had a virus? As far as I know, zero Macs are getting infected with viruses, despite the big news stories.

Gravatar I am new to the mac life! I just bought a video camera and hooked it up to my new macbook and the video didn't work so I downloaded whatever popped up!!! I had no idea why my video didn't work and i figured that mac's are suppose to be soooooo user friendly that I needed to download it. NOW WHAT DO I DO? HOW DO I KNOW IF I GOT THIS DARN TROJAN OR NOT???? EEK please help?

Gravatar New to Mac -- I wouldn't sweat it. This thing only comes up if you go to very specific porn sites. If you weren't off surfing for porn, you have nothing to worry about.
