A variation of the Nigerian scam. It also sounds like the "money for nothing" scheme the USPS has been targeting on TV and in pront recently.

This scam is not just used for money transfer. This scam is also used to transfer merchandise purchased with stolen credit cards. I went thru this last year with a less-than-brilliant lady friend of mine. We ended up contacting police locally and in California, several defrauded vendors, as well as USPS and Secret Service. My friend ended up getting prepaid shipping for the merchandise from the defrauded vendors, but the hassle factor was still there.
