Sunbeltblog comments

The "users getting infected with" link points to about:research.sunbelt-software.com. That won't work.

Presumably, you meant to refer to http://research.sunbelt-software.com.

i'll fix it.

Gravatar WFT is wrong with Google??? This has been going on a long time with Google Groups and Blogger. IMO there is no excuse for a company the size of Google with the resources that Google has. It really makes me angry that this continues after they've been notified many, many times by many people, including myself.

I see in the second screenshot there are links that say child porn and child rape porn. Google, you suck!!

Gravatar I like the way you wrote this up Alex. To take your reasoning to its ultimate conclusion :D

This Quote:

There’s a reason why so many of the threats that we see users getting infected with are invariably fake codec related.

Plus this quote:

For example, here is a search looking for posts with the keywords “porn video” in the last month, showing 256,000 hits

= People like porn...(as the reason why so many people get fake codecs on their machine

Gravatar This isn't just a google problem.

This sort of fake codec business has been happening for ages.

They targeting free hosting companies for hosting like tripod.lycos, ya.com and more.

Gravatar I have to give Google some credit because someone is working to close the groups down. I've noticed a lot of google alerts that lately that point to Google posts and by the time I click on it the posts have been removed.

I'm sure it could be faster but I can tell someone is at least working on it.

Bill

Gravatar How does a company like Google allow this? Better yet how do they get away with allowing this? If this happens on a site run by Google imagine what could be going on with sites who have much less resources than a Google has.

Gravatar Bill, that's good to hear. Thanks.

Gravatar Google, you suck!!
That's what I was thinking all along.

Gravatar ASK.com

The other search engine

Gravatar Everythings better than Google. :P.

Gravatar Ask.com is an absolutely wretched search engine. I have to believe ask-fan works for (or owns stock in ) Ask, as I have yet to meet anyone who prefers it, as a SE.

Google certainly has their share of issues, but that doesn't make their SE junk. Ask has also had it's share of ethical issues, and is a pure junk, IMO.

Gravatar Well, I used to be an Ask fan (now I stick to Yahoo!) when I was foolish. But you've basically said everything there is to be said.
