Sunbelt's response is an excellent review of Mirar's practices. I have also experienced a number non-consensual Mirar Toolbar installations in large bundles of adware/spyware downloaded through exploits including the site mentioned in the report.

I don't have a clue how it got on my system, but it was a pain to get rid of, It's name was something like "searchenhancer" on the add and remove programs list and I had to run several spyware scans and disable it as an add on to get rid of it. It gets bundled up with anything, and I think its disgusting that people have to clog up the interent with stuff like that. The internet would be such a nicer place if anyone could download what they want without fear of these guys trying to make a profit.

I am jumping late on the wagon, but I would suggest a plain and simple online petition. I am sure a great deal of people are just tired of having malware/adware on their machine and your developement efforts to battle them areprobably as incremental. All this time and money could be put to better use. I would gladly help.

Those weasels never asked me for my permission to install that crap. It just appeared out of the blue while visiting my webhost and then to add insult to injury, they want me to download and install their special uninstaller to remove it.
If this is not virus/trojan/spyware/spam--
I don't know what is.
