Yes, the site itself is safe. But what they do through their intermediaries... not.

Any time any group begins using malware as part of their installations, it is best to always assume that at any site owned by the group could be potentially dangerous. As such, it is always a good idea to first test the site in a test machine prior to making any links for the public.
