Sunbeltblog comments

Gravatar just posted an update to my site - asked my friend if the lady who had been hacked had stored any evidence. she deleted everything as soon as she saw it, which is understandable. It would be nice if Facebook actually replied to my friends email though.

Gravatar Also just been informed that that the lady whose marriage was nearly wrecked was as a result of someone posting extremely barbed comments about her in-laws on her page. This did make me wonder whether the person who did this perhaps knows the owners of the two hacked profiles personally, but both victims are totally unrelated, apparently so it'd be a stretch. Weird.

Gravatar ewwwwwwwwww. Why would someone torture a child then upload it on the internet? I trust that any screenshots taken would be censored so no one vomits on their computer screen?

Gravatar Its sort of a catch 22 situation - the incident happened in the workplace and they *may* be able to retrieve them. However, I don't particularly want them sending to me simply so I can barf while blanking them out with MS Paint then uploading them to the blog as "proof" or whatever.

What I can tell you, is that the lady who owned the hijacked profile told my friend that the pictures were of two kids no older then 10 being whipped and were particularly graphic.

It just boggles the mind. I've had some creepy things posted to my own funwall in the past, but nothing like that (thankfully).

I'm inclined to make sure I hurry up and delete a lot of applications from facebook after this..

Gravatar Well, if the sicko who whipped those kids ever gets caught, I recommend a public flogging for him followed by life without parole with weekly floggings. It's not cruel and unusual! That's what everyone did in the middle ages!

That's fighting abuse with abuse and puts you at precisely the same low level of this anonymous weirdo. Just because a "good doer" beats up a "bad guy" does not make the punishment in itself less despicable. Public flogging does not make the pictures go away nor would it result in any insight. Helping the seemingly tortured kids to overcome their trauma and get back to life would be much more beneficial than cherishing weird phantasies of punishment (which make you nearly indistinguishable from the offender).

What I find worrisome is, that you seem to approve of physical violence if it only affects the "right ones", as this is a pretty arbitrary and subjective definition. So tell me, how is your desire for torturing a "worthless creature" any better than pictures of tortured children? I somehow fail to see the difference, because the violence involved is always wrong and does not solve any problems. One offender may eventually wind up behind bars or psychiatry, but what about those self righteous "good doers" like you, who leave no doubt about their violent nature in their public statements?

Isn't that a perfect example of a schizophrenic society, in which the people affected are not aware of the nature of their phantasies and think they are perfectly legitimate?

Gravatar To Olliver: In all fairness, I believe Mark forgot to put the "/sarcasm" tag on his comment. Keep in mind he's not of majority age yet (if I recall correctly). Mark, care to clarify?

And you're right: violence only begets violence, and should only be used as a last resort in self-defense - not as "punishment".

A little off-topic: Taking away a person's freedom (aka "jail") is enough to correct any sane person, and at least removes the offender from being a continuing threat to others. As long as this removal process is based on what their actions WERE and not someone else's mere opinion of their condition, the system is very workable (if not perfect).
