Gravatar If you offered me a Star Bar, Double Decker or Cadburys Caramel for my password, Sure I'll give you a password.
But it wont be any that I use, have ever used or will ever use.
Free chocolate for random words count me in.

Gravatar For *really* good chocolate, I'll provide a fake date of birth too.

In all seriousness, did the researchers validate that the passwords and birth dates were real? I'm betting (or hoping) that some of those people were smart enough to not provide the real thing.

Gravatar As has been mentioned, giving out a password, and giving out an ACTUAL password you use, are two very different things.

Unless the passwords were somehow confirmed to be real, the survey is horribly flawed, and useless as a real predictor of behavior.

With that said, plenty of people are dumb, or ignorant, enough to divulge their password to a total stranger.

Now, if all of the interviewers looked like the woman in the picture (in Alex's blog), I'm surprised more men didn't comply. :#)
