Not sure if it's related, but a rather large host I have sites hosted with was hit with a hack where default site pages were injected with a javascript that redirected visitors to a malware site. I haven't seen evidence of it with other hosts, but the redirection only happens when a visitor is coming from google and quite a few sites were hit. Okay, thats interesting.
A similar (if not identical) thing was doing the rounds waaaay back in 05/06. Eric Howes did quite a bit of work on that one, too.
Weird if they've dusted the technique down and started applying it purely to Google.
