Fun reading. I would never think to attempt EU, though I understand the appeal. I picked up the computer game version on ebay a year ago but couldn't even get into THAT. (Then again, I've got no fortitude as a computer gamer.)
When were you at UT? I was there from 88-90, and remember King Hobby.
I started in 1995, and after many misadventures graduated in 2001.
I have EU II for the computer...yeah, that one's a mess. Horrible manual (continuing a grand tradition, I suppose); one is basically expected to absorb the umpteen layers the game has by osmosis. Played twice, then gave up.
