i do it for the yarn. oh yes, for the yarn, baby! haha! and i can totally relate: the deciding factors for a yarn are the color, sparkle, and the squish. sometimes, it's ALL about the SQUISH.
yay! more yarn! i think i'm gonna have to jump on this one...right quick, too, since i always seem to miss the boat. but 485 yds for $22? that's a LOT of socks for someone with little feet...like me
the base yarn is very nice...superwash? i am SO.THERE.
btw, i wanted to mention to you since we're on the topic of sparkly yarn in pretty colors. that clapotis project you're working on is lovely, but have you SEEN brooks farm four play yarn? i confess, i'm making a(nother) clapotis too now that i saw you making one, and i'm using the four play. i'll have to post a picture for you...LOVELY, and it does the whole striping-on-way-dropped-stitches-the-other-way thing. not in big blocks like yours, but the color variegation is realllllly cooool.
i'm just loving 70's retro colors. i may have been a hipster in a previous life...idk??? might just be the bf influence...

Gravatar my grammar and spelling suffered in the last comment, didn't it? aiyah!

Gravatar okay, so which popular sock yarn are you comparing it to? whichever it is, it looks great!

Gravatar You pretty much summed it up for me! I like to parooose the sale bin at my lys. It's there I get my best bit's and bob's. That sock looks great by the way. Carnival describes it perfectly! Who knit that wonderful sock?

Oh yeah, I did!

Gravatar Ooh, the yarn that looks like a Canadian company's whose name begins with the letter K... (Are we not allowed to say the word?).
I think $22 is reasonable. And not only for yarn addicts.

Gravatar I am going to go into a yarn overdose.... must...not...buy...flickering...flame....

gorgeous sister! I understand completely aboutthe process/product debate... kinda like nature/nurture!

(less than 3 mo till sheep and wool!!! )

Gravatar you are quite the tease!

Gravatar Where can I get some of that fine fine superwash...oh where oh where?

Gravatar Is that the stuff we saw @ your house and people thought it was Koigu? Nice

Gravatar Lolly the Yarn Addict - yep that is me. Even worse? I am a SOCK YARN ADDICT! I got the lovely skein you sent, and wow, I am so impressed. Can't wait to knit it up.

That totally looks like Koigu! Very pretty texture and colors

Gravatar Addict, that's me. I hope I'm around my computer when you post the update, oh yes I do.

Funny, I was just thinking about the process vs. product question this morning as I contemplate the whole Olympic phenomenon. I feel a post of my own brewing.

Gravatar After seeing that yarn pic, how about if I just mail you my tax return check? Talk about addiction…

Gravatar Aieeeee....DON'T TEMPT ME!!!!

Gravatar Marie! Nice review of your yarn on Lauren's lollyknitting around! You may never, EVER, sleep again. Congrats.

Gravatar Yup, I'm about the yarn, too. Last night I was winding some into skeins for dyeing and it really pleased me, the simple winding. I don't need to make things with yarn, though I do. So I'm not thought too crazy.

Gravatar I'm a bit of a yarn addict too. I've bought skeins that I'l likely never knit just because I think they are so gorgeous. Some of them seem almost too pretty to knit if that makes any sense.

I can't believe how fast your yarn is selling out. Congratulations!

Gravatar Oh yeah, totally addicted to yarn. Some of the yarns you can buy are SO pretty they're almost art - I love having beautiful things around me, and if they take the form of yarn, so much the better!

I can't wait to try the superwash - I guess I'll have to be a bit quicker off the mark next time! but I also like your other base yarn - don't discontinue it... at least not until I've had a chance to get good and addicted to the superwash!

Gravatar i feel the same way! totally! and after i have made yarns, i feel like i am done. on the occasion that i actually knit with it, i am shocked at how fun it is. exciting...seeing how it will look. i made a baby hat from some super gorgeous yarn that i dyed a while ago a silk alpaca blend and it looks awesome! we should swap sometime.
