Great insight into a band I really don't follow, but I've got the sudden urge to go listen to this music with such great fans.
That they make albums this way - pre-order pays for the music - is just fascinating and I'd never heard of it before.
I lived in England during the 80s and Marillion was definitely on my radar listening to Alan Freeman's rock shows (alright!). I was more into harder rock at the time, so never took the time.
I did by some solo Fish stuff, and still have the CDs somewhere.
Almost forgot, it's just stunning to me that they go into a studio without any notion of what they're going to lay down for an album. Obviously there are elements people have cooked up on their own to bring into the mix, but to not have lyrics or a "What do we want to do with album" concept in mind I would think would be VERY hard.

Glad you liked it Mr. Stark. They really sound nothing like the band you remember from the Fish years. If I played the two back to back, you'd swear it was two different bands. And yes, their fans are definitely quite the devoted lot.
Ian was also a joy to talk to. Very down to earth and a complete gentlemen--just don't tell him I said so cause he'd probably kill me.
Thanx for the comment Mr. Stark (And Pardon the formality, but I feel a little odd calling you Temple).

What, Temple's my real name. Go for it. Blogs aren't formal.
Gentleman? Why, that's not very rock n roll Still, if you're not a shit it means you're more about the music. (not "you" but ...)
