I think a lot of us were thinking about how to build on that awesome book thread.
My sense is to think about literature in broad terms rather than book reviews. I think what worked about that thread was its broad discussion of southern literature. So maybe discussions of sexuality and literature, the Harlem Renaissance, representations of Native Americans in lit, South American lit, etc., would create interesting comments since many of us probably something to add to those kind of conversations.

I thought this piece was pretty interesting, not so much because of John Updike himself, but the idea that an author's marginalia can be used as an additional window on his work.
And while typing that, I kept hearing Groucho Marx riffing "To say nothing of his genitalia!"

I think a book of Ayn Rand marginalia was published a couple of years ago to less-than-enthusiastic reviews. Not that anybody who hasn't already drunk the kool aid cares about an additional window on her work.

Vehna: That sounds terrifying. But in a morbid, driving-by-an-accident way. How would you arrange that stuff, anyway?
On John Stuart Mill: Poppycock. Rubbish. Ow. Now I'm angry. Damn.

Well, I'm usually more humble than this, but it seems like you do cross-postings here?
If so, why not get discussions going by reposting my weekly book reviews? (I do weekly movie reviews too).
