I agree with you and part of the problem is that he is writing for a newspaper and not, say a cultural magazine.
When he writes on travel in Brazil or on music, etc. he's usually fairly good. In politics, he's usually pretty dim.
A couple of years ago, Rohter was sent out of Brazil for publishing another article that tied the Brazilian president with alcoholism. A shame for such a prestigious media source as New York Times.
Apparently, Rohter seems to be very spiteful towards Brazilian affairs, not even knowing what he's talking about.
Or maybe he's the one with alcohol problems...
And, speaking of Brazil and idiots, let's be honest, we have our own version of Rohter. His name is Diego Mainardi.
May he rest in peace with my despise forever.
