Gravatar Please dear God let them stop killing and destroying Lebanon.

This is another blog everyone should see http://www.marwaheen.blogspot.com/

Gravatar I feel so sorry for the people trapped in Lebanon under bombardment. If only the world's government's would push for a ceasefire to get help in to the people. That would be a start. I do no understand the hardened attitude of Israel towards the Lebanese citizens caught in the crossfire. It is as if Israel is not going to stop until Lebanon is annhiliated. The slow response of the western governments is a hint that something is afoot here but if Israel does not stop hurting the innocents, revenge will be visited upon them in the future.

Gravatar War is hell. Hezbollah has been lobbing Katyushas into Israel for awhile now. The citizens of Lebenon give them aid and support. Proportianate response? Hell, if it was some group in Mexico lobbing rockets into the US and kidnapping borderpatrol agents, the response would be similar and I'd be down there helping them out.

Hezbollah and Hamas are dedicated to the destruction of Israel. Israel has given up territory trying to appease these SAVAGES and they are savages.

If hezbollah doesn't like the heat, then let them surrender and give up their weapons.

Gravatar This post is utter nonsense. As if the IDF wants to bomb civilian population for the hello of it? What is this blindness that non-Israelis have to the truth. Do they actually think that they can specifically target civilians and the IDF not respond? This is madness. Why doesn't Lebanon and Hezbollah call on its Arab neighbors to help defend them. This is not a war of attrition, it is a war for the survival of one state that has one percent of the middle east population and one percent of land that was never valuable until the Jews revitalized it. Fuggedaboutid, this post is what is wrong with the Arab world. The Jews are not evil, they do not provoke their neighbors for the fun of it. The Jews only wish to live and survive. The crazy thing about this is, when Israel thrives the whole middle east does. Go figure. Please dear God, open the eyes and unharden the hearts of those that hate the Jews.

Gravatar Frankly, VW, I wouldn't expect you to even remotely understand that it is nowhere near that easy to live under the threat of a fully armed militia. However, I will tell you (and this is confirmed information from friend's of mine) that even Hizbullah's supporters are now starting to be sick and tired of what is going on. This whole stunt has been a major disaster for Hizbullah and Lebanon. They did it independently. Our Prime Minister has stated this unequivocally and he has also stated that it was wrong.

You are right VW, war is hell. Glad to see you understand that though I have to say I am disappointed that you would completely discount the lives of those who DO NOT support Hizbullah.

As for my anonymous commentator, it takes real guts to leave a comment like yours and then not leave your name.

Had you bothered to read my archives you would have seen more than one piece where I slam Hizbullah. You however have chosen to think that ALL lebanese are Hizbullah and nothing could be further from the truth. I feel sorry for you.

Gravatar Amal,

I'm what most would call "right-wing" and I do not deny it. I also do not like war. I don't like to see innocents get killed. I actually do feel sorry for the peace loving people of Lebenon. I also feel sorry for the Israeli that suffer from daily rocket attacks. However, as much as I do not like war, I also know that at times, it is necessary.

As far as I'm concerned, thi war is Hezbollah's doing and choosing. If they wish to end it, thus end the suffering of Lebenon, they know what to do.

Thank you for your kind comments onmy blog.

Gravatar VW,

Hizbullah could give a rat's petoot about Lebanon. They could care less and we all know it. They work for Iran and Syria. This plays into both countries hands most conveniently.

You are not the only one who feels for the people of Israel. I have friends there. Does that surprise you? If you knew me, it wouldn't.

Gravatar I appreciate the fact that you understand I am no supporter of Hizbullah. The day that all of this started, I went to work like any other. I clicked on CNN and promptly forgot to breathe. I could not believe that Hizbullah had done something so stupid and so wrong. Wrong on every level.

Hizbullah is a national embarassment. They used to tout themselves as our protectors when in fact they are Syrian and Iranian stooges. They are our destruction.

Gravatar Amal, It wouldn't surprise me to learn you had friends in the Hezbollah! I think you are the type of person who could pull it off!

Gravatar I understand Isreal has been recieveing a few hundred rockets for the past 3 months. I also understand that a majority of Lebanon does not support hezzbolah. Wich begs the question why does Lebanon allow it?

Two ansewrs, I'm not entirely sure wich and maybe you can help me out. Can't or Won't?

If Lebanon Can't stop Hezzbollah becasue they are too powerfull then lebanon is an inneffectual government and should be welcoming outside assitance to put down the rebellion.

Won't is worse. It means that Lebanon is a terorrist state becasue it allows hundreds of rocket to be fired from its borders to intentionally harras kill and terrorize a neighboring country.

Everything I have read is Won't. Lebanon won't do it because it would give Isreal a secure northern border and that might legitamize Isreal. Lebanon Won't do it becasue they don't care if Isrealis die.

Now, becasue Lebanon Can't or Won't, Isreal has decided to make it impossible for hezzbollah to get missles within 20 miles of the Isreali border. In this I support Isreal a hundred percent.

Can't or Won't. Either way Lebanon is indirectly responsible.

Gravatar So sorry to read over at the Mad Pigeon you have now lost family in Lebanon. The agony you and your family must be going through I can only imagine. Condolences on your loss, and when you're ready, I hope you will give me a call.

Gravatar I came by way of the Corporal Amal.. I'm so sorry to hear that you've lost family in this awful mess.

I wish to comment on the Canadian citizens who, with their own free will, choose to go over to Lebanon, with awareness of the situation brewing over there, and are now evincing this disgusting air of entitlement. Not only should the Canadian government drop everything and come to their rescue, but it should also spirit them out on luxury cruise ships.. I just witnessed one particular gentleman complaining that the ship he left on wasn't air conditioned.

I just read an article about another couple who had flown over to visit family and ended up being taken care of by the Lebanese government (they signed and notarized replacement passports). This couple used this example to illustrate how pathetic the Canadian government was in coming to their rescue.. Well, I'd imagine that it's probably not that easy to make everything kosher with a foreign government, and why the f**k did they go over there in the first place??

I, like the Corporal, am a HUGE advocate of personal responsibility, and reading/hearing stuff like this absolutely disgusts me..

Anyway, I thought I'd add a new dimension to the conversation here.. Hang in there Amal, my thoughts are with you!

-Jenn

Gravatar To Amal: Hezbollah is our destruction? When where you in year 2000? and in year 1982 ? I think you need to get your facts right. Israel till now refuses to reveal the maps of the anti personal mines they put in South Lebanon. And only God knows how many were killed by these mines !!

And to VW: you wrote "War is hell. Hezbollah has been lobbing Katyushas into Israel for awhile now". This is bullshit argument. Israel started targetting civilians and civilian infrastructure. Israel is the one to blame !

Gravatar I read the entire post, and all of the comments. Then, I took a nap. That's a lot of reading, you know.

Here is my view of the war...

It's stupid. The whole damn thing is just absolutely ridiculous.

I have no idea which side is right, and which side is wrong. All I know is that innocent people are dying for nothing. What will this war accomplish? What will be gained when the dust and rubble is cleared away? Nothing!

This war will end, and another will break out in a month or so.

Amal, it isn't that nobody cares. It really isn't. It's just that everyone is tired of caring. The people over there are fighting all the time - and the reasons for the fighting never make sense to us. I think everyone is just tired of dealing with it. Everyone has done everything they could - every single time there was a war over there - and, at some point, all the nations in the Middle East need to get their shit together and behave like civilized nations. We are tired of babysitting.

A lot of people care, and wish there were a way to end it, but, they know that ending it is just the first step to starting another war.

Gravatar I am so tired of anonymous comments. I can't respond properly if you don't leave me a place to respond to. I can only hope you check back.

The person who wrtote "to Amal": You are wrong. Hizbullah started it this time and we both know it. Kidnapping those soldiers was an exercise in suicide pushed on by Iran and Syria. Stop remembering 1982 or 2000 and whatever. Remember that Hizbullah has been supporting Syria since they killed the Hariri and were forced out of lebanon.

Corp, I know. Believe me I know.

Gravatar I've read in both the Wall Street Journal and The Economist Hezbollah wanted a fight, but grossly miscalculated Israel's response. But like I said at my own site, when a state like Israel lacks strategic depth, they take the offensive and build a buffer. Even then, this still looks heavy handed, as if Israel is striking without a clear objective besides the vague "root out Hezbollah." Against a fluid target that's like playing wack-a-mole, with Lebanon unfortunately being the game table.

That said, this week's Economist has a great article on the current conflict and it's roots. If you don't buy a copy I at least encourage you to read it for free at the bookstore over a cup of coffee. If the employess get on you for not buying the mag, tell them the Mad Pigeon sent ya!

Gravatar Hmmmm, I'm off to read the Economist, sounds interesting. Funny, I've never been hasseled for reading only, but maybe because I usually buy something in the end.

Hang in there Amal. You know better than me how tough the Lebanese people are. They will survive this and rebuild again. I am hoping this latest tragedy will spur the populace on to kick Hezbollah out once and for all so this never happens again. Then Lebanon can say to Israel to never, ever bomb the country again or else. Lebanon needs to be left alone by all sides to heal, to rebuild, to simply enjoy peace and life. I will keep that hope in my prayers for the Lebanese people.

Gravatar This is just testimony to Western and Zionist racism, Amal. Even worse is that they try to justify it and make it seem sound normal. This, of course, is wrong. It seems that, to them, their blood is more important, and Lebanese civilians dying are not being cared for. We need more posts like this to make the world aware of the absence of conscience these days.

Gravatar What??????!!!!!!!! Western and Zionist racism???? Get your facts straight. Hezbollah started this with an illegal incursion into Israel. Hezbollah is the problem in Lebanon and was supposed to have been kicked out long ago as ordered by UN Resolution 1559. The Lebanese gov't didn't do this and now the country's people are sadly paying the price. You should be taking issue with the barbarity Hezbollah and the Lebanese government have put the people through. To deny that is denying the true cause of the suffering amongst the Lebanese people. By doing so it looks like you don't even care for them.

Gravatar I came here from The Corporal's site. I wish I had something intellent or helpful to say, but I don't. Lately I feel out of control and helpless about the world. :-

It is good of you to post this letter. People need to hear these things.

Gravatar Amal, there are people who care.
I care, and I grieve to hear of your losses. May there be peace soon.

Gravatar Would your blog even exist if nothing shitty was happening in the world?? I found you in a roundabout way..

Life is hard, and yes it's sad, but there's no need to make it suck more than it already does.

I have lung cancer, and I'm dying. I don't think I could take anyone hanging over me saying things like, "You're going to be in terrible pain and then you're going to DIE", or "You're suffering, you're suffering.. Let's watch you suffer" When you focus on the negative, you makes things one hundred times worse for yourself.

Gravatar My Gosh Peter, I am so sorry to hear of your illness and I am sorry to think that you feel like I couldn't write if there was nothing negative. I see a great deal of positive in this world. Always have, always will. I just write the things I think people need to see. I am so sorry again to here about your illness.
