I agree with you, counselling is key.
I encourgage all of you with similar problems, PLEASE SEEK HELP. It really can make life better. Even if it does initially make you feel worse.
Think of it as cleaning out your closet. Sometimes you need to make a mess in order to find all the junk you want to throw out.
So DO IT! Do it for the ones you love. They'll love you for it.

haaa Brian you sound like a PSA hehehe
the statute of limitations is long up for my case - from what I understand, in NY you basically have 5 years from the time you turn 18 or when it is reported to officials, whichever comes first (both are long long past 5 years for me)
nope the creep who molested me remains free to roam the streets - until HOPEFULLY someone else reports him and has better luck with the authorities (I've been waiting over 20 years for that to happen)
I can almost see a limitation on it from the time it is reported (not really, but...)
but NOT from the time you turn 18... some people don't even remember it for decades!!
there is no statute of limitations for killing a person who is no longer around to suffer... but the rest of us get to live the rest of our lives trying to overcome the damage that has been done to us - and if we don't happen to remember within some ridiculous time frame, the scumbags get to continue destroying lives
yeah - that makes sense
in my opinion there should be NO statute of limitations on ANY violent crime
anyway Amber - I know you're a little young... but I wish you were my mother ~BIG BIG HUGS~

Amber,
I could not even finish reading your post or anyone's comments, because I just had to say . . . No, I am not saying "Good" and enjoying the predator's misery and embarrassment.
When I was younger, I probably would have been happy. I suppose this must mean I have evolved?
I'm sad for EVERYONE involved.

Okay, read the rest and that's great legal advice.
Kitty, why not look it up again?

I was molested by my biological father as a kid. He had been molested by his biological father as a kid - as had all of his siblings.
He molested his teen-aged niece before me molested me and my sister. When she came forward to say what happened, her grandmother slapped her across the face and told her that lying was unbecoming and she should never say that again...this was before my mom married him, and had children.
When my mom assisted when the state pressed charges again him, the niece came forward and thanked my mom for doing what she had been unable to accomplish, because her trusted adults shut her out.
Somewhere, someone is very thankful for what you've done.

Amber, what can I say,
The harm these people do is awful.
You are both wise and brave, thank you.
Love and warm hugs,
Paul.

Amber, I just wanted to say I am very impressed by how brave you were. I too hate confrontation and I dont' know if I would have had the courage to push myself and make that call. Your children are very lucky to have ended up with you as a mother.
