grins at the running away story. My eldest when she was around 4 or 5 "moved out" - packed a picnic basket with food and her favourite toys and proceeded to "squat" in a big copse in the middle of our complex - almost opposite our house.

How lovely to read the concluding paragrpah of this; and bravo to you both for weathering the storms...

I have a friend who is the brightest, most vivaceous woman you would ever meet. But she can talk the ears off an elephant! When her name comes up on Call Display, unless I have 'lots' of spare time I let the machine pick up and she will talk exactly the same way to the answering machine. She's left messages over five minutes long. Allan and I have left the room, changed our clothes, come back and she's still talking!

Otoh, she's perfect to sit beside that shy person at your dinner party. All they have to manage,is,"hello."
