I missed the bit where Ryan gave credit to Chris Cornell. I really enjoyed David's performance though, and I hate to say that because I hate the smarmy bastard. Even it he did just copy someone else's arrangement, I'm of the opinion that that is what most of them do.
Yes, they all copy someone else's arrangement, but none of the other contestants get high praise for the doing it every week like David Cook does. He's a good singer, no doubt about it, but he's getting major points for being this risk-taker who turns a well-worn song on its ear. He's just following a template created by someone else. Good for him for sniffing out unique versions of songs but that's where the creativity ends. It's like doing paint-by-numbers and then trying to pass it off as your own original artwork. Totally bogus.
Bent Fabric, agreed about the list of artists to avoid. Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia, etc. all took on big songs memorably. Kids in the later seasons are trying to take on their predecessors' memorable versions instead of finding new songs to tackle. That's one point I'll concede to David Cook -- his song choices are different. But that's about it.

Michael Johns was flat throughout the entire song, and I hate his big 'ol moon face, so that means he'll be in the final two, I'm guessing. ::sigh::
You know, I was ALREADY MARRIED (god) when David A. was born, so you'd think I would've at least RECOGNIZED all of these songs. I mean, I know I drank away a good portion of the 80s, but "Fragile"? Never heard of it. Fat Alphonso Riberio's song? Never heard of it. And who the hell is John Farnham?
Also, can we ban "God Bless the USA" FOREVER? I'm as patriotic as the next gal, but that song is HORRIBLE. And fucking grammatically incorrect. "Proud to be an American, where at least I know I'm free?" On what planet does that make sense? Hate, hate, haaaaate.
I had high hopes for Ramiele -- she's this little girl with a big voice. She's just not pulling it out in her perfomances..not to mention the crazy outfits she's worn. Last week, her hat, corset and shirt were so distracting.
Poor David -- I felt like that could've been the theme song for the next Free Willy.
FYI Marcy, David Cook isn't Steven Tyler's love child. Since that's why you came here in the first place and all. We're nothing if not helpful. Well, when we're not being catty bitches, of course.
